How important is the truth? Dedicated communist journalist Alexander Bozamov believes the government must manipulate information to control the people of the Soviet Union. Otherwise, how could the socialist utopian dream be achieved? When betrayal finally opens Bozamov's eyes, he escapes to America for freedom to write the truth. But is even America media truly free? Can the USA ever become as repressive as the Soviet Union was?

In his novel, Escape from America, author Wallace Henley paints a grim picture of life under Soviet rule and takes a disturbing look into a potential future of the United States. This suspenseful fiction piece explores how the media in any country can manage and tint information to shape public opinion. The author writes from experience as a newspaper journalist and editor, lecturer in the former Soviet Union, and staff assistant to a United States President.

Young Bozamov enters the Soviet journalistic world ignoring the words of his grandmother to "write the truth." Through writing lies to "fit Soviet imagery," Bozamov receives promotions. Bozamov's turning point occurs in the aftermath of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. He dares to print the truth and is forced to flee his homeland. As a wealthy, respected journalist in the United States, Bozamov thinks he has it all. Then his life starts crumbling as he discovers a pro-abortion media slant, hate-crime laws, and plans to eliminate religious freedom. Can he find the real truth and freedom that will fill the emptiness in his life? Will he have to escape from America?
